Bri decided to take me out for a special dinner on birthday eve
without the kids. We left them home with a meal, icecream and a DVD
and went to Le Garage in Lumieres just 4km away as it was recommended
by the Michelin guide (no rosettes though) and had glowing reviews.
It's a pretty funky place serving not very traditional fare which is
kind of unusual in rural France.
The wine we had was just superb. I really thought we made good wines
in Oz. They seem to make brilliant and affordable wines. We have not
had a single average wine and we are buying ones that cost less than
$10 a bottle This one was 20 euros on the menu which means it costs
about 10 in the shop. That's around $14 and it was probably the best
white we've ever had.
The following posts contain the food that we ate.
Tomorrow we'll go out for lunch and take the kids along this time.

Hi Birthday Boy, 40 today. I can't believe it!
ReplyDeleteI lay in bed last night going down memory lane and seeing you at different ages and what you were up to. The day you were born was one of the happiest days in our lives (dads & mine).
I can still see dad carrying you and showing you off to everyone. xxxxoooo Mum

Happy 40th Birthday Stan! Well, I love all the photos. You are making me real hungry to go over there and eat and try every wine available! Glad to hear that you get to go on small rides when you can. Cheers Deirdre
