We have just left Cabreret on a really rainy day and we feel quite
sad. In a short time we felt really at home. It is really beautiful,
has a great bakery which makes a walnut tart that is probably the best
tart I've ever eaten and a little restaurant called O' Louise that was
simple, cheap and delicious. For 11.50 euros you choose out of a salad/
crudités plate or charcuterie plate for entree, no choice for main
(last night it was confit of chicken with ratatouille and fried
potatoes) then a dessert which was a choice of apple tart, lemon tart,
custard tart or ice cream. Wine by the carafe for 4 euros a litre.
We need restaurants like this back home but I fear that most Aussies
are too attached to having lots of choice.

Dear Alice
ReplyDeleteNow it is morning I have worked out how to send you a blog message - having emailed Dad's CSIRO address last night.
I hope your wrist isn't hurting - no doubt keeping it out of water will if the weather is as beautiful as it looks in some of the photos. Have you practised lots of French conversation? You will have so much to tell us when you come back.
Bisous, Sally
Thank goodness there is a picture of food at last. I thought someone had hijacked your BLOG!
