In the absence of cycle touring, Bri and my morning rides are really
important. We slip away while the kids are still asleep and return 1
or 2 hours later without them noticing. Today we cycled through
vineyards and market gardens to the perched village of Lacoste - home
of the Marquis de Sade. It is a stunningly beautiful area. I was here
20 years ago and although some things seem more renovated and a couple
of villages have become theme parks, it's still beautiful, rural and
tranquil. The pine and oak forests have undergrowth of Rosemary, thyme
and savoury so the smells are lovely too.
Back home now then off to the markets in Goult.
