What are we doing?

This has been in planning for a long time. Long service leave had to be taken, letters written to schools, bikes bought and upgraded, camping gear sorted, the vagaries of the SNCF elucidated and, of course, a whole lot of work work and housework completed.
If all goes well we will fly to Paris, train to Bordeaux then commence cycling (each on our own bike now that Noah is capable) east and south till we get to Provence 7 weeks later.
Along the way we will camp, stay in gites (one in the Dordogne and one in the Luberon), follow the market days and eat and drink very well. Hopefully the Euro crashes!
If the kids have any say, and they usually do, we will eat a pain au chocolat (chocolate croissant) each morning

Yum cha on the way

Air France changed our flight times some months ago and this meant
having to spend a full day in hong kong (rather than about 3 hours). I
booked a room at the novotel citygate and we arrived at 7 am thinking
we would leave our bags and catch the train to town for food. The
reception guy said we could check in early and so he recommended the
dim sum (yum cha) place in the mall next door as being one of the best
in hong kong. We had to wait till 7.30am for it to open. This was
probably the best yum cha we have had. Every dish was perfect. We had
chicken's feet, various prawn dumplings, radish cake, steamed squid
with garlic, sticky rice in lotus leaf and some more. We wolfed down
13 dishes and it only cost A$35.
We rolled back to our hotel and were allowed to check in then we
promptly fell asleep.
This is better than hanging out in an airport lounge.
Tonight we get on an air France flight and 12 hours 45 minutes later
we'll be in Paris.
