What are we doing?

This has been in planning for a long time. Long service leave had to be taken, letters written to schools, bikes bought and upgraded, camping gear sorted, the vagaries of the SNCF elucidated and, of course, a whole lot of work work and housework completed.
If all goes well we will fly to Paris, train to Bordeaux then commence cycling (each on our own bike now that Noah is capable) east and south till we get to Provence 7 weeks later.
Along the way we will camp, stay in gites (one in the Dordogne and one in the Luberon), follow the market days and eat and drink very well. Hopefully the Euro crashes!
If the kids have any say, and they usually do, we will eat a pain au chocolat (chocolate croissant) each morning

Raining - what timing Pt 2

(cont. from below). .....
Today, Sunday, was the first day of any rain and it rained pretty much
all day. So, we lounged in bed till late for us, rolled down the hill
to town and, soaked, went and had another bad French coffee. The
market wasn't stopped by rain and we wandered about buying bread and
produce for dinner.
We then found a groovy looking brasserie and managed to secure a table
upstairs looking down over the band playing frenchy-gypsy stuff on
guitar and accordion. Drinking cider, rose and eating well (steak,
rabbit casserole, lentil soup, meat balls) whilst listening to the
music was a great way to miss most of the rain.
By mid-afternoon, when rain had eased, we ground our way back home
(the hill is a bit like mike & wendy's road only steeper) to lie
about, read and have a swim.

  1. Briony,
Its about time you took over the camera. I'm yet to see a picture of Stan! Gee guys, you have shown me a whole new way of cycle touring (the gourmet way). I'm impressed with all the food you've eaten. Keep having fun. Sue B

  2. Yes, agree and some video too! Doubly jealous now, we couldn't afford to eat like you are doing when we were over there.
